Alentejo

These pictures were all taken just off the side of the road, and though it was only one place it captured the feel of the whole of Alentejo -- warm, colorful, filled with wildflowers and cork trees, and dotted with crumbling relics of the past. Only a bit of that is shown here; the many different colors that blanketed the fields, storks perched on pole-top nests, the smell of orange blossoms, and endless orchards of cork and olive provided the backdrop for our tour of Portugal by car, leaving us charmed and, ultimately, longing to come back.
